Madras – One of the FINEST movie in recent times

I watched Madras last weekend and it is one of the finest movies that I watched in recent times. The movie had a good script and characters were apt and the screenplay was so tight. Director Ranjith had done a wonderful job in this movie. He worked on finer details and nuances and there is not a single scene in the movie that comes as you think. Until the last scene, he keeps you engaged. The actor Kalaiyarasan who acted as “Anbu” in the movie was very very good. He fits the character like anything. He was so natural.

I felt very satisfied after watching this movie. Not sure why? But it was very fulfilling to me. This is the best movie to Karthi after Paruthiveeran. Paruthiveeran had a completely different genre than this. Karthi had done a very good job in this movie. He was subtle and did his character very well. The 15 mins after interval was terrific.

You need to watch it from the first scene to enjoy the movie else you will not understand the details. I would VERY highly recommend this movie.

Hats off Ranjith!

Madras – If you are a movie lover, DO NOT MISS IT!

Aranmanai – Not upto the mark

We watched Aranmanai last weekend and I did not like it that much. It is a mixture of lot of movies and almost all the scenes you feel that you had already seen it somewhere. I like Sundar C’s movies usually (no logic, but more comedy), but this is not upto the mark. It was ok, I would say.

I liked kalakalappu last comedy sequence between Santhanam and Manobala driving around the village. Expected something like it, but Aranmanai had so many actors and Sundar C tried to be like Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi. Not really fun.

So, Aranmanai – Not upto the mark.

Barely Survived Anjaan :)

I heard very bad reviews about Anjaan and saw a funny teaser about Lingusamy who says “Naan kathukitta motha vithaiyayum idhula erakki irukken. Surya indha padathukaaga vera madhiri thayaar aagi irukaar” etc. I really liked couple of Lingusamy movies before and thought he was very strong in screenplay writing. I still think his movie “Sandakozhi” has one of the best screenplays.

Coming back to Anjaan, the story & screenplay were so bad. This is the worst movie of Lingusamy so far. I am not sure what he had in his mind when he was writing this story. Surya did not suit the Larger than Life image “Raju Bhai” which looked like a comic piece. Samantha is not even needed in the movie.

Except Surya, no one had their lip sync perfect in the movie. At some point, you even feel that you are watching a dubbed movie. I don’t know why the director was so careless and how he missed this. Songs are not placed at the right place and felt there were too many songs with 2 item songs. Even if you have free time, please DO NOT watch this movie J. I barely survived it.
